Getting Started

GraceSon Housing Foundation was born out of Young Lives, a local organization that meets with and mentors teen mothers in our community. While serving with Young Lives of Spokane, a group of local women recognized that many of the young women who attend club are either homeless or facing unsafe living conditions. Provision and access to safe housing became a pressing need as their work with young moms grew.

Momentum Builds

Late in 2012, a generous community member donated resources to procure a property and establish a new non-profit in order to providing a housing option for mothers when none previously existed. Within one month, a property was purchased and meetings were held to plan and organize this new ministry. It was clear to everyone involved that God was working and revealing his heart to care for these moms and their children. An Executive Director was chosen, a Board formed, and the ministry began developing plans and strategies to help teenage mothers in our community and to be excellent stewards of what God had provided and continues to provide.

Today, GraceSon Housing Foundation is the only program of its kind for parenting teen moms under the age of 15, and the only home for teenage mothers with more than one child.  In Spokane, there are only nine beds available for parenting teenage mothers, ages 16-18, who are facing homelessness or unsafe living conditions.  By providing a safe home, resources, mentoring, access to education and more, GraceSon Housing Foundation meets a housing and need gap for teenage mothers in Spokane that otherwise goes unmet.
